How do I do so? • Q: My question wasn't answered here, damnit!

Q: Are you David? Is this his official website?A: No (I know, sorry!) and no. I am not David Strathairn, nor do I share any personal connections with him or his agency. This website is an unofficial and unendorced website made by a Strathairn fan for other fans to browse and enjoy. :) For boring, more detailed information on this, please see this site's disclaimer. Currently, David Strathairn has no official website.

Q: How do you pronounce his last name?
A: This is such a popular question, and its about time I added it to the F.A.Q. Although David's last name has been pronounced many different ways (no wonder its hard to know the correct pronounciation), Strathairn is supposed to be pronounced "Strah-THAIRN". Two syllabols, with equal emphasis on both. Need proof? Hear David speak it himself by downloading a sample of his reading for the audio book Trail of the Apache (found in the Media section).

Q: Where can I write to David? A: If you wish to contact him, the best way is to write him care-of his agency. See this site's contact information on getting in touch with David.

Q: What is David's personal e-mail address? A: You're kidding, right?

Q: Can you forward a letter to David for me? A: Sorry, but I don't have the connections to pull that off. Though, I must confess, some of the fan mail I receive is highly entertaining, please do not contact me with letters or materials to forward to David because I cannot do so. Your best bet is to, again, write to him at his agency.

Q: Do you make money from this site? A: Nope. David Strathairn Online is a non-profit website. We are affiliated with All Posters strictly for maintaining and upkeeping this site. I also accept donations for the site online through PayPal and offline (see the Why Donate? page for more). Help a poor college girl out and buy a poster or make a donation, please! :)

Q: Has David visited this website? Does he read the Guestbook? A: Yes, David has seen the website, though I do not know if he has read the comments left by fans in the Guestbook. However, please do not let that discourage you. Your comments about David, as well as for this website, are always welcomed and appreciated! (And I never get tired of hearing how sexy you all think he was in Harrison's Flowers.) Q: You mean I'm not alone?! A: For sure!

Q: Does David have a MySpace account? A: No, he does not. Please be aware that the profile/blog on MySpace is an impersonater and not the real David. Any responses MySpace users may receive or have received are fake. David does not have any kind of online blog account. Sorry, folks!

Q: Can I use photographs and/or video clips from this site? A: Please ask permission before taking ANY content from this site. While many photographs and videos on this site have been properly credited and do not belong to me, it has taken countless hours to research, purchase, scan, upload, tag and post media content to this website. In some cases, images and videos are being used with permission from the original copyright owner(s). I'm continuously doing my best to keep content on David Strathairn Online unique, original and exclusive. Taking media files (whether it's a screen capture I've taken or a video I've personally uploaded) without asking is not appreciated. And, in many cases, you'll get a YES if you just ask! I do not bite...usually. :) Please see the Site Info & WWW page for more on copyrights.

Q: Where are all the private pictures and information on David? A: All the sources used on this website are mainly public materials (meaning the majority of the content comes from online, published, and other media-related resources.) David Strathairn Online is strictly dedicated to all-things related to the man's talent and career. Out of respect for both he and his family's privacy, you will not find such information here. (And, for the record, I do not have the desire nor the time to surf for that kind of stuff. If you do, I can only advise you to get a hobby. Something. Anything.) The man and his family have a right to privacy, and I have no desire to tread on that. I'm just interested in the wonderful work he puts out there, and I hope visitors here are, too. Sorry. My soap-box speech is over. :)

Q: Where can I find/buy David's film and TV works? A: There are several online resources where you can begin your treasure hunt. Amazon.com, eBay, and Half.com are great starters. Good luck!

Q: When will [insert title] be avaliable on DVD? A: Check the News page. Any developments on David Strathairn's films coming to DVD will be announced there.

Q: I can't find [insert title] amongst David's filmography on the website. Where is it? A: All film credits are, infact, on the website. Made-for-TV movies have been indexed under the Television section and are separated from theatrical releases. Be sure to check both sections because it is there, you'll just have to search through David's long list of works to find what you're looking for. :)

Q: Who runs this website? Why? Who the hell are you? A: My name is Andrea Weaver. I'm a senior college student who has been an admirer of David's work for several years. This website is a tribute to my favorite actor. If you really care to know more about why I started a website dedicated to the greatest living-and-breathing performer on the face of this planet, read my highly-biased tribute. :)

Q: Why don't you have entire movies for download? A: First off, that would violate numerous copyright laws. Secondly, I'm a poor college student and not interested in getting sued. There are, however, hundreds of video clips avaliable for your viewing pleasure on David's work. In some cases, his entire appearance in a film or TV show has been captured if it is rare or hard to find otherwise. So, please enjoy the many, many clips that are in the Media section for you to watch, and go out and rent or buy his films if a particular clip takes your fancy! :)

Q: Can you make a copy of [insert film, TV appearance, et. al] for me? A: Sorry, I do not have the time nor, in some cases, the needed equipment to make duplicates. My suggestion is to try eBay for the cheapest prices on Strathairn memoribilia. Also, be sure to check the Media section for rare Strathairn works and appearances. Most are already avaliable in their enitirety for download.

Q: Why can't I hear/view the audio and/or video clips on this site? Q: Chances are you do not have the media software required to hear/view the files. The media clips on this site require the latest versions of RealPlayer, Quicktime, and Windows Media. You can download these versions for free by clicking on the links. If you are still having problems, then it most likely has something to do with your software, connection speed, or internet setup.

Q: Why don't you have __________? A: Well, that depends. If there's something related to David Strathairn's work that is not here and you think it should be, contact me!

Q: I heard [insert gossip, rumors, et. al], but the information isn't on the site. Why? A: David Strathairn Online does not post gossip. This website only gives career-related news and information, and only after it has been confirmed by reliable sources.

Q: Why do I never see David in or on [insert tabloids, PEOPLE Magazine, Access Hollywood, E! True Hollywood Stories, et. al] A: Eh...probably because the man is private. He's (thankfully) not in that main streamline of celebrities and, for the record, I think us (harmless) Strathairn fans show enough of an interest to him already. :)

Q: What is David doing now? A: Between film and the stage, David keeps himself pretty busy and normally has several projects in the works. For the most up-to-date list on all upcoming projects, see the News page of the site. In addition, the Calendar of Events on the Main page also has a list of important dates related to David's ongoing projects, updated on the first of every month.

Q: Where does David live? A: New York. Q: No, where does he live? A: Eh...New York?

Q: Can I link to your site? Can I become an affiliate? A: Of course! I would be flattered. Link buttons for David Strathairn Online can be found under the Affiliates page. E-mail me if you would like to become an affiliate of this site.

Q: What is a "Strathainator"? A: It's sort of become a term associated with fans of David's work. Maybe not all of us call ourselves a "Strathainator", but it is fun to use...if you don't take it literally and have any sense of humor.

Q: How can I connect with other fans? A: Visit the long-active Yahoo! Group, where you can meet other Strathairnators and join in on all the fun discussions! :)

Q: What Strathairn videos can you recommend to me? A: I get this question a lot from Strathairn newbies. This is difficult because, for starters, David has a near-perfect resume (no joke!) and has given many great performances over the years. However, if I had to recommend ten for starters, here they are (in no particular order): Eight Men Out, Day One, Sneakers, The River Wild, Dolores Claiborne, Beyond the Call, Bad Manners, Limbo, Blue Car, and Steel Toes. (Excluding Good Night, And Good Luck, as this has been the intro for most newbies.) But there are MANY other great films David has done, so give as many of them a go as you would like! :)

Q: What is it with you and David's performance in Rodney's Wife? A: Oh. my. god.

Q: Did you know I'm David's biggest fan? A: Sure...

Q: I would like to contribute comments, suggestions, or materials for this site. How do I do so? A: Please feel free to e-mail me directly at andiweaves@hotmail.com. Any information or materials that I can share with other Strathairn fans is terrific! So, send them my way. :) Comments and suggestions are welcome, too, but I'd prefer that you use the Guestbook. Thank You!

My question wasn't answered here, damnit! A: Fine. Nosey inquireries here (provided they're not too invasive!) |
