JANUARY 30, 2009: THE UNINVITED THEATRICAL RELEASE

FALL, 2008: THE SENSATION OF SIGHT THEATRICAL RELEASE  According to the following press release, David's independent film The Sensation of Sight will receive a late Summer or early Fall theatrical release. An exact date has yet to be announced. The film will be released through Monterey Media, which also released Steel Toes last year. JUNE 24, 2008: THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES AVALIBALE ON DVD  The popular childrens's fantasy film, The Spiderwick Chronicles, of which David stars alongside Freddie Highmore and Mary-Louise Parker, will be released on DVD on June 24, 2008. 2008: DAVID TO FILM CHALLENGER
David is set to star in Media 8 Entertainment's film Challenger. The film is a drama about a Nobel Laureate's investigation into the 1986 explosion of the space shuttle. David will play the lead role of Richard Feynman, the noted physicist, whose probe was motivated in part by his participation in the Manhattan Project and sought to ensure that there was no institutional cover-up of the negligence that led to the Challenger tragedy. The film will be directed by Philip Kaufman (whom David previously worked with in Twisted). At the moment, it is unknown when in 2008 the film will start production. 2008: DAVID TO FILM HEREAFTER David is set to star in Ben Katz Productions' film Hereafter, to be shot sometime in 2008 in Thailand. The film is a drama set amid the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami, centering on an American clothing designer who must search for his wife and children after the tsunami separates the family in a remote area of Thailand, where they've been visiting the factory in which his garments are produced. Michael Patwin is set to direct with Chris Bender, Ben Katz and Madeline Ryan producing. The film initially was to be shot in March-April, 2007 but has been delayed. 2008: DAVID TO APPEAR IN THEM THAT WORK DOCUMENTARY David will appear in Them That Work, a film documentary on John Sayles's 1987 independent classic Matewan. The film will chronicle the making of this project and how it has affected those who made it, as well as other film makers. David has been interviewed for the documentary which, according to an interview from The News Courier, director Jason Brown hopes to premiere at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. SEPTEMBER, 2008: THE PEOPLE SPEAK TO AIR Though an exact date has yet to be announced, according to the recently released trailer, the upcoming documentary The People Speak is set to air sometime in September 2008. JUNE 27, 2008: TRUMBO (LIMITED) THEATRICAL RELEASE David's documentary film Trumbo will, according to several film sites, receive a limited theatrical release on June 27, 2008. APRIL 4, 2008: MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS (LIMITED) THEATRICAL RELEASE A limited release date for My Blueberry Nights has been set to April 4, 2008. MARCH 18, 2008: EIGHT MEN OUT AVALIABLE ON DVD (SPECIAL EDITION) In honor of the 20th anniversary of director John Sayles's Eight Men Out (1988), which David stars in alongside John Cusack and Charlie Sheen, MGM is distributing a new special edition DVD of the film on March 18, 2008. New features will include an audio commentary by Sayles, a behind the scenes featurette on making the picture, and a retrospective featurette with cast and crew. FEBRUARY 25, 2008: EPIC THEATRE ENSEMBLE'S ANNUAL WINTER GALA David Strathairn will be onhand at the Epic Theatre Ensemble's 7th annual winter gala in honor of Lancτme and Tim Timberlake of Principal Chelsea High School for their visionary support of Epic's "After-School Shakespeare" Program. The event will take place on February 25 (6 p.m.) at 24 Fifth in NYC. David has served on the artist board, as well as been an avid supporter, of Epic Theatre since its conception. FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 30, 2008: DAVID TO STAR IN CONVERSATIONS IN TUSCULUM This winter, David will return to the stage to star in The Public Theater's world premiere of Tony Award winner Richard Nelson's new historic play, Conversations in Tusculum. The play will also feature Brian Dennehy (co-star from the TV mini-series Day One) and Maria Tucci (co-star from John Sayles's film Enormous Changes At the Last Minute).
Synopsis: The country you love and the values it represents are being destroyed by a misguided leader. You can continue to live in relative comfort by not involving yourself, or you can take action to save the democracy you love. Set outside of Rome in the villas and hillsides of Tusculum, Richard Nelson continues his revelatory exploration of history with a new play that chronicles those entangled in Julius Caesar's world of manipulation and power. The play will run in NYC and begin performances starting February 19, officially opening March 11 and running through March 30. Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting February 3. JANUARY - FEBRUARY, 2008: DAVID TO FILM COLD SOULS David will appear in the upcoming independent film Cold Souls, which began filming in January in NYC and will continue through February. Cold Souls, the directorial debut of Sophie Barthes, is about a famous American actor who, in the midst of a crisis, stumbles upon a Soul Storage that offers New Yorkers a relief from the burden of their souls. JANUARY 21, 2008: AT WAR: AMERICAN PLAYWRIGHTS RESPOND TO IRAQ David Strathairn will join Bebe Neuwirth and Janeane Garofalo in the return engagement of The Fire Dept's At War: American Playwrights Respond to Iraq, which will run on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. from January 21 - February 4 at the Bleecker Street Theatre, NYC. David will be part of a rotating cast of performers, with his performance taking place on January 21. JANUARY 10, 2008: A RED LETTER DAY: SYMPHONY SPACE'S 30th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION David Strathairn is amongst a large line-up of artists who will participate in A Red Letter Day, an event to mark Symphony Space's 30th anniversary. JANUARY 8 - 9, 2008: THE PEOPLE SPEAK PERFORMANCES David Strathairn, who will appear in the upcoming TV miniseries The People Speak (scroll down for more information), will--along with several other noted performers--do live performances of Howard Zinn's work that will be televised for the miniseries. JANUARY, 2008: DAVID TO FILM THE PEOPLE SPEAK David will appear in the upcoming Howard Zinn documentary The People Speak, a four-hour miniseries based upon Howard Zinn's landmark 1980 tome A People's History of the United States. David will perform in the film along with The Bourne Ultimatum co-star Matt Damon, Salome co-star Marisa Tomei, Viggo Mortensen, Missing In America co-star Danny Glover, Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington, Eddie Vedder and John Legend.
