DECEMBER 27, 2004: M.I.A. UPDATE

David Strathairn's film, The Woodcutter, has been retitled as M.I.A: Missing in America. Although it is still awaiting a theatrical release date, its writer/director/producer Gabrielle Savage Dockterman, as well as co-writer Nancy L. Babine, recently showed film clips and slides from the set at the Gleason Library in Carlisle, MA on December 4. Dockterman was onhand to give her own personal insights into independent film-making.



DECEMBER 9, 2004: DAVID TO STAR IN RACING DAYLIGHT AND RELATIVE EVIL AVALIABLE ON DVD

David is set to star in the Lumina Films production of Racing Daylight, an independent film written and produced by Nicole Quinn and director Mark Richardson. The film will co-star Melissa Leo and Mary Louise Wilson and is set to begin shooting sometime next spring. A special thanks to writer/producer Nicole Quinn for passing on this information to us. And in other news, David's film Relative Evil (previously titled Ball in the House) will finally be released on DVD on December 14, 2004.



NOVEMBER 30, 2004: CANCELATION AND SPEAKEASY AVALIBLE ON DVD

David, who was originally scheduled to appear in the stage reading of Urfaust for Classic Stage Company on December 6, will no longer be appearing due to schedule conflicts. He has been replaced with Michael Cumpsty.

NOVEMBER 21, 2004: SAVING DOLPHIN BAY INTERACTIVE VIDEO

A bit of old news, but over the summer David participated in the 40-minute, interactive film Saving Dolphin Bay, which can now be seen exclusively at the Mote campus on City Island. The movie teaches about dolphin research and conservation in a fictional place that's like Sarasota Bay. David plays a scientist, Dave Diamond, who's concerned about the preservation of dolphins. NOVEMBER 8, 2004: CURRENT/RECENT/FUTURE PROJECTS

David is extremely busy right now with various films and other projects in the works, in post production, or currently in the making.

Films: Earlier this year, David completed the film The Woodcutter, in which he plays Henry. His co-stars include Danny Glover, Linda Hamilton, and Ron Perlman. The film does not yet have a release date but is rumored to come out sometime this year.

Another film David recently completed is The Ballad of Bettie Page. David plays Senator Estes Kefauver, and the film co-stars Gretchen Mol and Lili Taylor. A release date is yet unknown.

David is currently shooting Heavens Fall in Alabama. The film centers around the infamous Scottsboro Boys trial that took place in Alabama. David plays Morgan County judge James E. Horton who oversaw the trial and ruined his career.

David is also in development to star in Steel Toes, the new title for David Gow's play Cherry Docs, which David starred in at its run in Philadelphia. David will once again play Danny Dunkleman, and David Gow is set to direct.

And in other news, David will star in the upcoming film Good Night, And Good Luck about the renowned CBS News anchor Edward R. Murrow's legendary on-air confrontations with red-baiting Sen. Joseph McCarthy that helped bring down the infamous politician in the mid-1950s. The film is to be directed by George Clooney, who will also star in the picture, and David is set to play Edward R. Murrow. The film begins shooting on Feb. 28 in Los Angeles.

Television: Showtime will finally be airing the original TV movie Paradise on November 21 at 8:30 pm. David stars as Bobby Paradise, a former astronaut and now a world-famous spiritual leader, who faces a long, dark night of the soul in this original picture. Bobby's got his hands full just keeping his ministry afloat, but a senate hearing, a sex scandal, a corporate merger and a son about to be paroled from prison are about to make his life a whole lot more complicated--and his faith a lot more difficult to muster. Barbara Hershey, James Le Gros, James Gammon, Elaine Stritch and Kirk Acevedo co-star. Check the Showtime listings in your area.

Theater: Earlier this year, David starred in a regional Williamstown production of Rodney's Wife. From November 12 - December 19, David and his co-stars will be reprising their respected roles at Playwrights Horizons in New York.
