• DECEMBER 22, 2006: WE ARE MARSHALL THEATRICAL RELEASEThe release date for We Are Marshall has been moved back by Warner Bros. The film will now be released on December 22, 2006 (a change from a previously announced December 8, November 10, and October 27 opening). This date is subject to change. • DECEMBER 21, 2006: WE ARE MARSHALL A&E SPECIAL PRESENTATION On December 21, 2006 at 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. EST, A&E will show a special presentation on We Are Marshall, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie. • NOVEMBER 10, 2006: THE SENSATION OF SIGHT U.S. PREMIERE The independent film, The Sensation of Sight, which David stars in and co-produced, will have its U.S. premiere at the Starz Denver Film Festival in Denver, CO. It will screen twice, November 10 at 6:45 p.m. and November 11 at 6:30 p.m., with both David and director Aaron Wiederspahn in attendance to take part in Q&As following the screenings. • OCTOBER 13 & DECEMBER 13, 2006: 21st ANNUAL AMERICAN CINEMATHEQUE AWARDS David Strathairn is amongst several noted actors who will pay tribute to actor/writer/director George Clooney at the 21st Annual American Cinematheque Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA on October 13. Though David will not make a personal appearance, his tribute will be shown via taped message during the ceremony. • SEPTEMBER 22, 2006: THE SENSATION OF SIGHT WORLD PREMIERE The upcoming independent feature, The Sensation of Sight (which David co-produced and stars in), will have its international world premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain on September 22, 2006. It will have a total of six screenings during the festival, which runs from September 21 - 30, and compete in the festival's Zabaltegi-New Director's section, which highlights exceptional work by first and second-time directors from around the world. • SEPTEMBER 20, 2006: DAVID RECEIVES INVITATION INTO ACADEMY David, as well as several other candidates, has received one of entertainment's most exclusive invitations into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences which, amongst other selections, votes on the Oscars. David and 119 other new members will be welcomed into the Academy at a private reception on September 20 at the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study in Beverly Hills, California. • SEPTEMBER 19, 2006: SELECTED SHORTS READING David Strathairn, Tony Roberts, and Lois Smith will read short fiction for Selected Shorts, a live version of the renowned National Public Radio show of the same name, on Tuesday, September 19 at Westport Country Playhouse in Connecticut. David will read "The Palmist" by Andrew Lam. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be taped for future NPR broadcast. Tickets range from $15 to $25. • SEPTEMBER 12, 2006 - JANUARY, 2007: DAVID TO FILM THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES David is set to star in Paramount Picture's child fantasty story, The Spiderwick Chronicles, based on the bestselling series by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. The film centers on three children who move to their great-great uncle's ancient mansion only to discover a magical book which opens up a new world. David will play Arthur Spiderwick, the great-great uncle. Filming began September 12 and will continue through January, 2007 in Montreal, Canada. The screenplay was written by frequent collaborator and good friend John Sayles and is being directed by Mark Waters. • SEPTEMBER 7 AND 8, 2006: UNC'S CONCERT READING David Strathairn will lead an ensemble cast in a stage reading of Studs Terkel's Will the Circle Be Unbroken at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Memorial Hall) on September 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. The concert reading will be presented by UNC's StreetSigns Center for Literature and feature an evening of song, story and celebration. The ensemble cast will incorporate blues, folk, opera and gospel music to illuminate Studs' poignant book of interviews on death and dying. Characters portrayed onstage include author Kurt Vonnegut, actress Uta Hagen, legendary North Carolina musician Doc Watson and a rich procession of everyday people sharing family stories and memories. • SEPTEMBER, 2006: DAVID APPEARS IN POLITICAL CAMPAIGN AD David Strathairn has made a rare appearance in a Hudson Valley campaign ad in support of Democratic candidate Kirsten Gillibrand, who's running for Congress against Republican John Sweeney. Shot and performed in the manner of David's Oscar-nominated performance as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, And Good Luck (2005), the ad first appeared online Thursday evening and will, subsequently, run on television stations in the Hudson Valley area. • AUGUST 10 - 21, 2006: DAVID TO FILM MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS David Strathairn has replaced Kevin Spacey in My Blueberry Nights, the English-speaking film debut of Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai. David will film his scenes in Memphis, TN, where shooting begins August 10 and concludes around August 21. David joins an all-star cast that includes Norah Jones, Jude Law, Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman. The film is slated for release in 2007 from Studio Canal. • AUGUST 8, 2006: THE SHOVEL OPENS AT RHODE ISLAND FILM FESTIVAL The short feature, The Shovel will be one of the opening night shorts at the Rhode Island International Film Festival on August 8, 2006. • JULY 20, 2006: HEAVENS FALL EAST COAST PREMIERE The long-awaited independent film Heavens Fall will have its East Coast premiere on July 20th as the opening night film at the Stony Brook Film Festival in New York. The screening will take place at 8 p.m., followed by a special Q&A with the cast and crew. David has been confirmed to attend. • JUNE 8, 2006: NORTH STAR FUND'S INAUGURAL NEWS PRIZE EVENT Honorary chair David Strathairn, along with event co-chairs Toby D'Oench, Anne H. Hess, Arva Rice and Barbara Winslow will be hosting the North Star Fund's inaugural News Prize on Thursday, June 8, 2006. • JUNE 1, 2006: LEFTOVER STORIES TO TELL STAGE READING David Strathairn will take part in a celeb tribute to Spalding Gray in readings of his Leftover Stories To Tell, featuring work that was performed by the late actor and writings discovered recently, that will run from May 31 to June 4 with different actors each night. The readings chart a uniquely personal journey through Spalding's inimitable perspective and voice, featuring excerpts from his hilarious monologues juxtaposed with journal entries, poems, and other unpublished--and previously unperformed--writings. • APRIL/MAY, 2006: THE SHOVEL AT THE TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL A short film entitled The Shovel, starring David Strathairn and directed/written by Nick Childs, has suddenly come to light. It is unknown when this small feature was made, but the film recently premiered on March 18th at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. • APRIL 3, 2006 - JUNE, 2006: DAVID TO FILM WE ARE MARSHALL David Strathairn has signed on to the film We Are Marshall for Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie revolves around the events following the 1970 plane crash that killed members of the West Virginia-based Marshall University football team, along with most of its coaching staff, sports commentators and many of its local boosters. David will play Marshall University president Dedmon, who is profoundly affected by the loss of the team. He will join co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox. The film begins shooting April 3rd in Huntington, West Virginia and will last approximately 18 days. • MARCH 23 & APRIL 18, 2006: M.I.A SCREENINGS Missing In America will next be screened as the opening night film at the Reel Women International Film Festival on March 23rd. • MARCH 14, 2006: GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK AVALIABLE ON DVD (+ C-SPAN DVD) Warner Bros. has announced that Good Night, And Good Luck will be avaliable on DVD (and VHS) on March 14, 2006 and will be sold for $28.98. The DVD will include deleted scenes, audio commentary from George Clooney and Grant Heslov, theatrical trailer, and a behind-the-scenes documentary. • MARCH 5, 2006: DAVID RECEIVES ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATION I am very happy to announce that David Strathairn has received an Academy Award nomination for his stirring performance as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, And Good Luck. The film also garnered nominations for Best Picture, Best Director (George Clooney), Best Original Screenplay (George Clooney, Grant Heslov), Best Art Direction (Christa Munro), and Best Cinematography (Robert Elswit). The 78th Annual Academy Awards will air on March 5, 2006 at the Kodak Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center and televised live on ABC Television Network beginning at 8 p.m. EST. A one-hour red carpet arrivals show will precede the telecast at 7 p.m. This is David's first Oscar nomination. A huge congrats to him and the cast/crew on their well-deserved nominations! :)

• MARCH 4, 2006: DAVID RECEIVES INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATION Awards season has begun, and the Independent Spirit Awards has nominated David Strathairn for Best Male Lead for his portrayal of Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, And Good Luck. This is David's fifth Independent Spirit Award nomination. He previously won in 1992 for his performance as Asteroid in John Sayles's City of Hope and was nominated for Matewan (1987), Passion Fish (1992) and Limbo (1999). Other nominees in the Best Male Lead category include Jeff Daniels (The Squid and the Whale), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote), Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow) and Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain.) Good Night, And Good Luck received three other nominations: Best Feature, Best Director (George Clooney), and Best Cinematography. The awards will be held on March 4, 2006 and broadcast live on the Independent Film Channel at 5 p.m. EST. It will be rebroadcast the same evening on American Movie Classics at 10 p.m. EST. • FEBRUARY 19, 2006: DAVID RECEIVES BAFTA NOMINATION David has received another Best Actor nomination for his role as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, And Good Luck. This time from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (the British equivilant to the Oscars.) Good Night, And Good Luck also garnered nominations for Best Picture, Best Director (George Clooney), Best Screenplay (George Clooney, Grant Heslov), Best Supporting Actor (George Clooney), and Best Editing (Stephen Mirrione.) • FEBRUARY 13, 2006: DAVID IN SHAKESPEARE SOCIETY'S BOYS WILL BE GIRLS PRESENTATION David Strathairn, Michael Cumpsty, and Jefferson Mays will participate in a special presentation from the Shakespeare Society of Boys Will Be Girls. The 90-minute presentation will take place on Monday, February 13 (6:30 p.m.) at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (Park Avenue and 68th Street). David and his fellow actors will read excerpts from some of the Bard's most famous roles for women, including Lady Macbeth and Rosalind. The evening will also include members of the all-female troupe The Queens Company performing scenes from their production of The Taming of the Shrew, plus commentary by author Dympna Callaghan. • FEBRUARY 11 - MARCH, 2006: DAVID TO FILM FRACTURE David Strathairn has signed on to a new film project entitled Fracture, starring Ryan Gosling and Sir Anthony Hopkins and to be directed by Gregory Hoblit for Castle Rock Entertainment and New Line Cinema. This thriller follows an assistant district attorney (Gosling) who plays a cat-and-mouse game with a man (Hopkins) who tried to kill his wife but was set free on a series of technicalities. David will play Gosling's boss, a district attorney. Filming is set to begin on February 11th in Los Angeles. Release dates are pending for late 2006, early 2007. • FEBRUARY 6, 2006: EPIC THEATRE CENTER TO HONOR DAVID STRATHAIRN David Strathairn will be honored next February at the Epic Theatre Center's 5th Anniversary Gala. Epic Theatre Center is an organization of which David has been a long-time supporter. He previously starred in the premiere production of Hannah and Martin there and most recently took part in a stage reading of Beauty On the Vine. Tickets range from $250-$500. • JANUARY 29, 2006: DAVID RECEIVES SAG AWARD NOMINATION David has received a Screen Actors Guild nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Good Night, And Good Luck, as well as sharing a nomination for with the cast for Best Ensemble for the film. In addition, David will also be a presenter at the awards ceremony. The 12th Annual SAG Awards will be telecast live at 8 p.m. EST on January 29th on both Turner Network Television (TNT) and TBS. • JANUARY 16, 2006: DAVID RECEIVES ONLINE FILM CRITICS NOMINATION David has received yet another nomination for Best Actor (Good Night, And Good Luck), this time from the Online Film Critics Society. Good Night, And Good Luck also received nominations for Best Picture, Best Director (George Clooney), Best Original Screenplay (George Clooney, Grant Heslov), Best Cinematography (Robert Elswit), and Best Editing (Stephen Mirrione.) The gala will also honor Vassar president Frances Daly Fergusson, and actor David Strathairn, who's currently starring as journalist Edward R. Murrow in the acclaimed George Clooney film Good Night and Good Luck.The New York Stage & Film (NYS&F) gala will begin at the Copacabana ( 560 West 34th Street) with cocktails at 6:30pm, followed by dinner, entertainment, and a silent auction at 7:30pm. Auction items will include set visits and walk-ons to hit TV shows such as Desperate Housewives, The West Wing, and The Closer, owner's seats to a Philadelphia Eagles game, sports memorabilia from the New York Jets, tickets to The Daily Show with John Stewart, lunch with comedian Lewis Black, Broadway show tickets, and many other items. • January 9 and 16, 2006: DAVID RECEIVES CRITICS CIRCLE AND GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS (AMONG OTHERS) David continues to garner more nominations for his stirring performance as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, And Good Luck! He has been nominated for both Best Actor and Best Acting Ensemble (shared with cast) by the Los Angeles Critics' Choice Awards. The film also garnered nominations for Best Picture, Best Director (George Clooney), and Best Writer (George Clooney and Grant Heslov). The Critics' Choice Awards will be handed out January 9, 2006 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and will be broadcast live on The WB Television Network. David has also received his first Golden Globe nomination for Good Night, And Good Luck. On December 30th, the Chicago Film Critics Award nominations were announced, and David has also been nominated in the Best Actor category for Good Night, And Good Luck.
