• 2008: DAVID IN INCIDENT AT CHEKHOV CREEK

It has recently come to light that in autumn 2007, David filmed a narrative, independent dance film entitled Incident At Chekhov Creek, now making it's way into various film festivals. More information to come soon.

• 2008: DAVID TO FILM UNTITLED TEMPLE GRANDIN PROJECT

David will appear in the yet-untitled HBO film about Temple Grandin, one of the leading speakers on autism whose unique experience with the disorder led her to become one of the top scientists in humane livestock handling. David joins co-stars Claire Danes, Julia Ormond and Catherine O'Hara and will play Grandin's university science teacher. The film begins filming on location in Austin, TX later this month. • 2008: DAVID TO FILM HOWL

David will appear in the upcoming Allen Ginsberg biopic Howl. Telling Pictures documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman will make their narrative writing, producing and directing debut with the 1950s-era tale, focusing on the obscenity trial launched to censor Ginsberg's groundbreaking book-length poem. The pair were approached by the Allen Ginsberg Trust to make a film commemorating the 50th anniversary of "Howl." David will play real life prosecuting attorney Ralph McIntosh, and his costars will include Alan Alda, Jeff Daniels, Mary-Louise Parker (whom David worked with in Masterspy: The Robert Hanssen Story and The Spiderwick Chronicles), Paul Rudd and James Franco. • NOVEMBER 3, 2008: EPIC THEATRE ENSEMBLE'S FIRST VOTE '08

David will be among the participants in Epic Theatre Ensemble's First Vote '08: Trust Us - This Won't Hurt A Bit, to be presented at The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC on Monday, November 3. On the night before they vote in their first ever election, first time voters are honored by some of today's top playwrights, authors, op-ed writers and performers with an irreverent and celebratory evening of satirical, scandalous and inspiring short takes on yanking levers, pregnant chads, and America's generally peaceful transition of power. • JULY 25, 2008: DAVID TO GUEST-STAR ON MONK

David will guest-star on an upcoming episode of the USA Network series, Monk. The episode, titled "Mr. Monk and the Genius", is about Monk going up against a Bobby Fisher-type chess genius (David) who always appears to be two steps ahead of him. • FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 30, 2008: DAVID TO STAR IN CONVERSATIONS IN TUSCULUM

This winter, David will return to the stage to star in The Public Theater's world premiere of Tony Award winner Richard Nelson's new historic play, Conversations in Tusculum. The play will also feature Brian Dennehy (co-star from the TV mini-series Day One) and Maria Tucci (co-star from John Sayles's film Enormous Changes At the Last Minute).

Synopsis: The country you love and the values it represents are being destroyed by a misguided leader. You can continue to live in relative comfort by not involving yourself, or you can take action to save the democracy you love. Set outside of Rome in the villas and hillsides of Tusculum, Richard Nelson continues his revelatory exploration of history with a new play that chronicles those entangled in Julius Caesar's world of manipulation and power.

The play will run in NYC and begin performances starting February 19, officially opening March 11 and running through March 30. Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting February 3. David will appear in the upcoming independent film Cold Souls, which began filming in January in NYC and will continue through February. Cold Souls, the directorial debut of Sophie Barthes, is about a famous American actor who, in the midst of a crisis, stumbles upon a Soul Storage that offers New Yorkers a relief from the burden of their souls. David Strathairn will join Bebe Neuwirth and Janeane Garofalo in the return engagement of The Fire Dept's At War: American Playwrights Respond to Iraq, which will run on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. from January 21 - February 4 at the Bleecker Street Theatre, NYC. David will be part of a rotating cast of performers, with his performance taking place on January 21. • JANUARY 10, 2008: A RED LETTER DAY: SYMPHONY SPACE'S 30th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

• JANUARY, 2008: DAVID TO FILM THE PEOPLE SPEAK

David will appear in the upcoming Howard Zinn documentary The People Speak, a four-hour miniseries based upon Howard Zinn's landmark 1980 tome A People's History of the United States. David will perform in the film along with The Bourne Ultimatum co-star Matt Damon, Salome co-star Marisa Tomei, Viggo Mortensen, Missing In America co-star Danny Glover, Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington, Eddie Vedder and John Legend.
