• 2009: DAVID TO STAR IN THE TEMPEST

David recently wrapped a role in the film version of William Shakespeare's The Tempest, directed by Julie Taymor. The cast includes Helen Mirren (co-star from Dance of Death), Alan Cumming, Dijimon Hounsou, Alfred Molina and frequent co-star (and good friend) Chris Cooper. The film recently wrapped shooting in November in Hawaii. A release date has yet to be announced. More information to come.

• 2009: DAVID TO APPEAR IN THEM THAT WORK DOCUMENTARY

David will appear in Them That Work, a film documentary on John Sayles's 1987 independent classic Matewan. The film will chronicle the making of this project and how it has affected those who made it, as well as other film makers. David has been interviewed for the documentary which, according to an interview from The News Courier, director Jason Brown hopes to premiere at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. • DECEMBER 7, 2009: DAVID ON STAGE IN WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN

David will participate in a concert stage reading of Will the Circle Be Unbroken: Death, Rebirth, and Hunger For a Faith at Georgetown University on December 7. The concert will take place on campus at Gaston Hall and also feature Ed Asner. David previously took part in the first concert for Will the Circle Be Unbroken in 2006.

• DECEMBER 2, 2009: SYMPHONY SPACE’S SHERMAN ALEXIE: STORIES AND CONVERSATIONS EVENT

David Strathairn and B.D. Wong will participate in Symphony Space's Sherman Alexie: Stories and Conversation reading event on December 2 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in NYC. David and Wong will read from the author's new collection, War Dances. David has taken part in several past stage readings with Symphony Space. The event will begin at 7 pm. • OCTOBER 26 - NOVEMBER, 2009: DAVID TO FILM THE WHISTLEBLOWER

David is set to star in the independent feature The Whistleblower, the true-life story of a US police officer who volunteered in the humanitarian crisis of post-war Bosnia only to uncover a sex trafficking ring and the ensuing complicity of high-ranking UN officials in its cover-up. The production co-stars Rachel Weisz (whom David worked with in My Blueberry Nights), Vanessa Redgrave and Monica Bellucci and begins filming October 26 in Bucharest, Romania. • SEPTEMBER 16 - OCTOBER 11, 2009: DAVID TO STAR IN NATHAN THE WISE

This fall, David will return to the stage to star in the People's Light & Theatre regional prodction, Nathan the Wise.

Synopsis: Jerusalem in 1192 was a city in which Jews, Christians, and Muslims lived side by side, however uneasily. A heroic act by a mysterious Templar brings together a wealthy Jewish merchant, his love-struck daughter, a sultan, and a Christian Patriarch with a dark agenda.

The play will run in Malvern, PA and begin performances starting September 16, officially opening September 19 and running through October 11. Tickets are currently avaliable. For more information, see the People's Light & Theatre website at www.peopleslight.org.

• JULY 20 - AUGUST 20, 2009: DAVID TO FILM NO GOD NO MASTER

David is set to star in the upcoming independent film No God No Master from Strata Productions, which will begin filming on July 20 in Milwaukee. The film, which will be David's second collaboration with director/writer Terry Green, is the story of William Flynn, the federal Bureau of Investigation agent who unraveled a plot to kill John Rockefeller Jr. and bomb the New York Stock Exchange during the Red Scare of the early 1900s. • JUNE 27, 2009: POWERHOUSE THEATER'S 25th ANNIVERSARY GALA BENEFIT

On June 27 at 7pm, David will participate in the Powerhouse Theater’s 25th Anniversary Gala Benefit. The gala will offer selections from favorite Powerhouse plays and musicals performed by some of Broadway and Hollywood’s top artists, all of whom, at one time or another, have trod the stage at Powerhouse. A party will follow that the audience is invited to join the artists for, celebrating Hudson Valley food artisans with a Locavore Party. The party will begin at 8:30pm outside the Martel Theater. • APRIL 17, 2009: DAVID TO PARTICIPATE IN AUTISM POLICY BREAKFAST

On April 17 at 7:30am, David will participate in the Autism Policy Breakfast for the Anderson Center for Austim in Poughkeepsie, NY. The breakfast is to raise awareness on the disorder and David, along with Tony Award-winning songwriter Rupert Holmes, will deliver the keynote addresses. For more information, read the following article from the Poughkeepsie Journal which, among other things, mentions an interesting note about David's dog, Bodhi--a trained therapy dog who works and plays with austistic individuals.

The New York premiere of The People Speak will take place at the Museum of Modern Art on February 11. The screening will be followed by readings, musical performances, and discussion with Howard Zinn, Chris Moore and Anthony Arnove. • JANUARY 23, 2009: DAVID TO PARTICIPATE IN FIRST LIGHT 2009

David will take part in Ensemble Studio Theatre and the Alfred P. Sloan Festival's First Light 2009, a festival of new works related to science and technology.
