Overview: On February 19, 2006, David Strathairn attended the British Academy of Film and Television Awards, the British equivilant to the Oscars, in London along with George Clooney and Grant Heslov. David was nominated for Best Actor for his critically-acclaimed performance as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, And Good Luck. The film was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director (George Clooney), Best Original Screenplay (George Clooney and Grant Heslov), and Best Supporting Actor (George Clooney). The film, however, did not receive any of its awards. The Best Actor win went to Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote.

On the red carpet, David told the BBC, "I feel kind of like a deer in the headlights. It's quite a big dance and it's my first time on the floor." George Clooney, who arrived dateless to the ceremony, also joked to Extra, "I had David Strathairn as a date and then he brought his wife. What was that about?"
