David was nominated for Best Actor for his critically-acclaimed performance as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, And Good Luck, as well as sharing a nomination for Best Ensemble with the cast. The film was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director (George Clooney), and Best Original Screenplay (George Clooney and Grant Heslov.) Though the film did not win these awards, George Clooney was honored with the special Freedom Award for the film. The Best Actor win went to Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote, and Best Ensemble went to the cast of Crash.During Julia Roberts' Freedom Award speech for Clooney, Roberts paid special mention to David, stating, "Yes, please clap for him!", to which the entire room errupted into loud applause.
