Date: March 4, 2006 (Tent, Santa Monica, CA)David Strathairn at the 21st Annual Independent Spirit Awards (03/04/2006) - photo copyright © Rex Features | Overview: On March 4, 2006, David Strathairn attended the 21st Annual Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, CA, along with George Clooney and Grant Heslov, which aired live on the Independent Film Channel. David was nominated for Best Actor for his critically-acclaimed performance as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, And Good Luck. The film was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director (George Clooney), Best Original Screenplay (George Clooney and Grant Heslov), and Best Cinematography (Robert Elswit). The film won Best Cinematography but did not receive any of its other awards. The Best Actor win went to Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote, who hugged David before walking to the podium. It was David's fifth Independent Spirit Award nomination. He previously won in 1992 for Best Supporting Actor in City of Hope and was also nominated for Matewan, Passion Fish, and Limbo.Related Links:
