Overview: On October 17, 2005, David Strathairn attended the RTNDA (Radio-Television News Directors Association) Awards Dinner & Show for the annual Edward R. Murrow Awards. The Edward R. Murrow Awards, established in 1971, have been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism, and Murrow's pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name.

David was onhand to show a clip from Good Night, And Good Luck, as well as offer remarks. David was quoted as saying that director/writer/producer George Clooney, who also stars in the film, made the movie as a tribute to his father, former news anchor Nick Clooney, who considered Murrow one of his heroes, stating, "In many ways, this was an act of love that we all felt was the result of what Murrow loved--truth in journalism and telling stories for the common good." Of playing Murrow in the film, David said, "It has been an incredible journey to live with this man and everything he has done and continues to do for all of us."
