Jimmy Flynn Favorite Quotes: • "I got you the best office on the floor, furthest from the boss, closest to the door." - Agent Preecher • Preecher: "Do you know who caught the case over at the 11th squad?" Jimmy: "My nightmare scenario." • Preecher: "Flynn is seeing Teddy Maddock, then he and I are having lunch." Teddy: "Get him to examine the state of his soul." Preecher: "If he doesn't get to that himself, he's not going to be much use to us afterward." • "Whatever lip service it pays to morality in it's charter does not make an institution moral Sarah. Only people make it moral. We need to know if the institutions been corrupted. Now if Jimmy Flynn’s part of something large, definitely you need to be looking at him but just keep in mind he might be trying to sail unchartered water without a compass." - Agent Preecher • Preecher: "No rest for the wicked, aye gentlemen." Mooney: "What's that supposed to mean?" Preecher: "Nothing. It's just an expression." • "Jimmy Flynn wants to hold Terry Maddock accountable for all his own lost childhood illusions." - Agent Preecher • Teddy: "When I was a child I use to talk like a child, think like a child, reason like a child but when I became a man I put aside all childish ways." Preecher: "Oh, write that up and put it in Jimmy's inbox. Sign it anonymous." • Cooper: "I like him [Lawrence Stark] because of the people who don't. He rolls his sleeves up, he doesn't apologize; knows how to enjoy himself and he does a lot of good." Preecher: "Working up to proposing, Bob?" Cooper: "I'm a married man, Will." Preecher: "Forgot your ring." Cooper: "Sometimes when I travel I keep it at home; hate to lose it." • Preecher: "I hope I'm not being to forward if I mention that your heart [pin] is askew." Joan: "Can you fix it without breaking it?" • "You know, Sarah, Bob doesn't need to worry about my reputation but he should definitely be worried." - Agent Preecher • "Let's stand back, Teddy. Let's look at the big picture cause we're the big picture guys." - Agent Preecher • "Jimmy's lost control of Maddock, and I signed on to look away. That stops now. All this crap has to stop." - Agent Preecher Notes: • Only five episodes of Big Apple aired before CBS canceled the show. Though the series garnered rave reviews from critics and audiences, it was set against a bad time slot opposite ER on NBC. • David and co-star Jeffrey Pierce previously appeared in L.A. Confidential before reuniting for Big Apple. Critical Praise & Commentary: • "Along with Strathairn (a very welcome addition to weekly TV), he [co-star Ed O'Neill] also is charged with conveying the show's central message: Institutions are not moral on their own. People make them moral." -Robert Bianco, USA Today • "Strathairn also makes a strong impression, especially in scenes with Glynn Turman, who plays Preecher's colleague and friend, FBI agent Teddy Olsen." -Rob Owen, Post-Gazette TV and Radio • "...and when you want arrogance, you can't do better than David Strathairn (A Map of the World), who does stiff-necked truculence as well as anyone." -Ken Tucker, Entertainment Weekly Related Links: Big Apple Fansite (off site) |
